From the Field to the Plate
Kids don’t change their eating habits because someone tells them to. They change when they experience, understand – and cook it themselves.
Coming soon on SRF school
Why children’s nutrition can’t wait
According to the World Obesity Federation, childhood obesity could more than double by 2035 compared to 2020. That isn’t fate. It’s the result of a world full of food advertising and short on real food knowledge. Much of it is preventable, and prevention starts with education.

Bright colours aren’t food knowledge.
Food literacy means understanding what we eat, where it comes from, and how to choose well. Not a ban on treats, but knowledge beyond the packaging.
Stories, not sermons
Nutrition education is often theoretical: food pyramids, nutrient charts, dos and don’ts. Knowledge that is never tasted, touched or tried is quickly forgotten.
That’s why we’re producing an edutainment series on Swiss fruit and vegetables for SRF school. In each episode, two children explore what grows in Switzerland, meet the people who produce it, and learn to cook it themselves. No lecturing, no finger-pointing. Viewers don’t watch a lesson; they discover along with the two.
Experience. Understand. Apply.
Experience: Out onto the farm. Where do carrots grow? Why are there no Swiss strawberries in December?
Understand: Interactive quiz moments that turn viewers into players.
Apply: One quick, cheap, genuinely cool recipe per episode, easy enough to make at home that evening.
What makes it different

We don’t tell kids what to eat. We give them the tools to decide for themselves and the confidence to start cooking.
Food literacy: Nutrition understood in practice, not just on paper.
Sustainability: Local and seasonal you can see, touch and taste.
Self-efficacy: “I can make this myself – and it’s super easy!”
Motivation: Characters kids identify with keep them watching and learning.
